Nick Marshall – Managing Partner
Financial planning for me is about helping clients reach their own financial freedom – the freedom of time to do what they want, with the people they want, at the time they want to do it.
I’ve been practising since 2010, supporting families, business owners, SMEs and professionals who want clarity over their financial future – to make sure they’re doing the right things, deal with a particular issue, or simply have reassurance that they’ll be okay.
I was 25 when we founded Porta, and the ups and downs over the years have given me huge insight into the emotions of money – not just for business owners but for families as well.
Clients describe me as insightful, honest and supportive. I’m known for visualising complex issues in a simple way and bringing it back to their goals and aspirations. I always try to link everything to the bigger picture – how the puzzle fits together rather than focusing solely on what’s right in front of us.
My specialism is goals-based planning delivered in a tax-efficient manner.

I hold Chartered Level 6 status – the Advanced Diploma in Financial Advice – and studied at Exeter University.
Outside work you’ll find me at swimming, gymnastics or the latest new activity with my children Lily and Teddy. I also enjoy playing golf or the similar emotional turbulence of watching Bath Rugby.
