Seb O’Neill

Associate

I wanted a career that felt fulfilling, where I could help people with something that really matters. Financial planning appealed to me because it combines analytical thinking with genuine human relationships, and I was particularly drawn to Porta’s focus on life planning and the opportunity to learn from experienced advisers.

Right now, I’m developing my knowledge through research and analysis while studying for my CII exams and taking the next steps towards becoming a qualified adviser. I enjoy seeing how different clients approach the same financial challenges and understanding how seemingly small changes can have a huge impact over the long term.

I’m particularly interested in protection and how people can prepare for the unexpected moments in life, as well as inheritance tax planning and the big conversations families have to navigate. In the future, I want to become an adviser who clients genuinely trust and look forward to speaking with, building strong relationships with families across different generations.

I’m naturally calm and patient, and I like to understand how things work and the ‘why’ behind the ‘what’. Friends, family and colleagues say I’m a good listener, remember the details and build lasting relationships with a wide variety of people.

Before joining Porta as an Associate in July 2026, I spent three years working in Supply Planning at SC Johnson. I also have a bachelor’s degree in Business Management & Marketing.

Outside work, you’ll usually find me going for long runs in the countryside or wandering around a museum.
