Ben Payne – Associate

I wanted to become a financial adviser because I enjoy helping people reach their goals. It’s rewarding to bring people closer to the life they envision, whether that’s buying a home or planning for retirement. I’m passionate about making a real difference in people’s lives, and Porta shares the same values. Joining the team in May 2024 has allowed me to learn from my colleagues, develop my skills, and help more people feel confident about their future.

Right now, I’m focusing on building relationships with clients and understanding their goals – the foundation of good financial advice. Working with different advisers at Porta gives me valuable insight into new approaches, ideas, and perspectives, which I can then implement myself. I’m especially interested in pension planning and how it helps people secure their long-term financial future.

This career pushes me to keep learning and improving. I want to become an adviser who is approachable, reliable, and proactive – someone who always puts clients first. I naturally bring strong communication and adaptability to the team, and people often say I’m a good listener and patient when helping others work through problems.

Before joining Porta, I studied sport at university and worked for an exhibition company in the buy-to-let property sector.

Outside of work, I enjoy playing golf and spending time with family and friends.
