How Our Fees Work

As part of our commitment to Transparency and Clarity, we believe it’s hugely important to show exactly how our fees work.

Financial advice shouldn’t feel mysterious or come with any hidden surprises, so at Porta, we’re upfront about what you’ll pay, when you’ll pay it, and what you’ll receive in return.

We know that clear information helps you make confident decisions. That’s why we’ve outlined both our initial advice fees and ongoing service fees below, along with a simple explanation of how our planning process works.

Our Approach

Our fees reflect the time, care and expertise that go into creating your financial plan and the ongoing support you receive once that plan is in motion. We don’t charge hourly rates. Instead, we agree a clear, fixed structure from the start. This means you’ll always know exactly what you’re paying for and how it aligns with the value you’re getting.

Because we use enhanced technology and streamlined processes, we can keep our fee structure simple, transparent and fair.

Many of our clients are still building their investments, so our approach is deliberately designed to support regular contributions and long-term growth without unnecessary complexity. It means you can invest consistently and confidently, knowing the structure reflects your best interests – and your family’s – over the long run.

Our approach is designed to:

  • Keep things simple and transparent
  • Reward long-term partnership and regular investing
  • Ensure our interests are always aligned with yours

Your First Meeting

There’s no charge for your initial consultation. We use this meeting to get to know you – your goals, your priorities, and whether we’re the right fit to help. It’s an open, pressure-free conversation.

If we both decide to move forward, we’ll explain exactly what the next steps look like and what any future costs will be.

Initial Advice Fees

These cover the cost of preparing your financial plan – the analysis, recommendations, and implementation work needed to put everything in place.

Our initial advice fee is based on the amount you invest through us and covers the cost of preparing and implementing your financial plan.

The table below shows the fees that apply:

Amount Invested

Initial Fee

Up to £250,000

1.00% (thereafter reducing to nil)

£250,000 +

Examples:
1.If you were to invest £150,000 on our investment platform, we would charge £1,500.
2.If you were to invest £500,000 on our investment platform, we would charge £2,500 (first £250,000 @ 1% = £2,500 + £250,000 @ 0% = £2,500).

Regular Contributions Savings and or Investments

For plans where a regular contribution is paid, for example a Personal Pension, our initial charge for advice and implementation will be 0%. The fees shown above cover all initial advice and implementation. There are no additional charges.

Ongoing Service Fees

Life changes and your financial goals might too. Whether it’s a new job, growing family, or a change in priorities, we want to make sure your financial plan keeps up. That’s why we offer an ongoing advice service designed around you and your goals.

Our ongoing service fee covers the cost of regular reviews, portfolio management, and ongoing financial advice.

The table below shows the annual fees that apply:

Assets under Management

Annual Ongoing Fee

£0 – £500,000

1.00%pa

£500,000 – £1,500,000

0.95%pa

£1,500,000 – £2,500,000

0.85%pa

Above £2,500,000

0.65%pa

Our ongoing service charge is taken monthly in arrears through your product provider and will vary as your portfolio value changes. This is based on the ongoing service and reviews charter outlined below. If we’re unable to collect it this way, you’ll be asked to pay us directly.

These fees are agreed in advance and deducted directly from the amount invested (unless otherwise stated).

Household Charging

Most financial advisers treat everyone’s accounts separately. That means if you and your partner both invest, or you’ve set something up for your kids, you might find yourself paying multiple sets of fees.

That’s never felt right to us.

So at Porta, we do Household Charging, which simply means we charge by household – not by person. We use our advanced technology to link your family’s accounts together and base our fee on the total amount invested across your household. It means you’re charged as one unit, not individual clients.

This means that you see significant cost savings as you move through the fee tiers faster. Essentially, as your family’s combined pot grows, the overall percentage you pay goes down. It’s as simple as that.

Example:
If a couple each has £1 million invested and their child has £1 million in a junior portfolio, most firms would charge three separate fees. At Porta, we count that as one £3 million household portfolio, so you pay the lower rate that applies to that total.

It’s a fairer way to do things – and it fits the way real families invest.

A Final Word on Transparency

We believe financial advice should always feel clear, fair and human. That means no hidden charges and no jargon. Just open, honest communication and a fee structure that makes sense.

If you’d like to discuss how this applies to your own situation, or to see how your plan might look in practice, we’d be happy to talk it through.
